We worked as part of the professional team charged with improving the air-conditioning and energy efficiency of this 250,000 sq ft office building. Our client MITIE had a £3 million contract to upgrade the building’s air-conditioning. A requirement of this contract was to improve the EPC rating from an existing Grade D to a improved Grade C. Due to the complicated nature of the building, with a full height atrium, we used Level 5 Dynamic Simulation Modelling software. Our work on this project allowed an EPC Grade C to be issued for the building.
This 100,000 sq ft office building is owned by our client Clerical Medical Investment Group. The building was built in 1980 without any insulation. It had previously been occupied by Unisys and was their most expensive building to run in the UK. Following comprehensive refurbishment the building was let to Coca Cola on condition that it achieved a BREEAM Very Good. We worked with the landlord’s professional team to greatly improve the EPC rating. This involved modelling several different solutions so the most cost effective refurbishment could be selected.
